How To: Styling for Spring in Cold Weather

Hey Sis,

Spring is FINALLY upon us, but for me in New York it may as well still be winter because it's cold AF. (I'm exaggerating, but the point is, I still need at the very least, a coat, scarf, and hat when I go outside). Yet, I've DYING to start incorporating the spring trends and styles I've been LOVING into my daily attire. The only thing stopping me at first was this cold weather, oh and.... the "snow storms" that seem to occur every week. But I've found a way to weave in some of my favorite trends and still be weather appropriate. Here are some of my tips!

Prints

Try looking for your favorite Spring prints in more heavy weighted materials. I personally love the checked/houndstooth prints this season. I found this coat at the Salvation Army (for JUST $10). It is 60% synthetic materials and 40% Wool so it is great for layering. (underneath I have on a t-shirt and a plain black crew neck sweatshirt)

                           Colors

Usually in the winter we gravitate towards darker colors so think about wearing brighter ones, or colors that stand out more. Red booties are a staple so I decided to incorporate that into my look. These ankle boots I picked up from ALDO (and guess what!? they are currently on sale!). I'm also still on the perspex heel thing (I'm sorry I CANNOT get enough if it) so I loved that detail on these boots. I also think the "❤️ U" on the heel makes them different and unique. I always get compliments on these boots when I wear them.

*an extra tip: if you think your pants are too long to work with your booties, try cuffing them like I did 😉*

Accessories

To top everything off add on some accessories that you love. For this look I added a velvet beret, because like I said earlier, it's still cold outside and a hat is definitely needed to stay warm and not get sick. I also can't leave the house without carrying a pair of shades either on me or in my bag so I  put on  these trendy angled sunglasses, they don't provide any UV protection so they are purely for aesthetic. Lastly I added this Chanel Boy bag dupe. I wanted to keep my bag simple and functional.

Hopefully, these tips are helpful as you transition from winter to spring, because I know it can be difficult when all you want to do is start playing with colors and wear all those cool spring trends. I'm so glad to FINALLY start kick off my blog, so please feel free to let me know what other things you would be interested in seeing from me, I'd love to hear from you. And while you are at it, tell me what spring trend you are most excited to rock!

The Glamazon
